About Ark
Ark Occupational Health was established in 1999 by Dr Gordon Shepherd MB ChB AFOM who began his occupational health career at UKAEA’s nuclear power establishment at Dounreay, Caithness site in the mid 1980’s and also has wide experience in hospital medicine and general practice. Gordon holds HSE appointments for radiation, commercial diving and other statutory medicals and has a special interest in Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and sickness absence management. His role at Ark as Medical Director involves supervising and developing the expert occupational health service and support that we give our clients.
Together with his wife, Lizanne, Gordon represents an owner-led organisation that is passionate about delivering a quality occupational health service with a level of personal attention and customer focus that exceeds expectations.

Lizanne Shepherd, Managing Director, brings a different set of skills to the business from her background in education. As well as developing Ark’s business strategy and planning for growth and success, she makes sure that the company’s commitment to recruiting, training and continually developing the best staff is a priority. Ark was first recognised as an Investor in People in 2005 and aims to remain committed to the standard.
Gordon and Lizanne lead an enthusiastic and experienced team of doctors, nurses and support staff who are the key to the success of our mission – to deliver quality occupational healthcare in a professional and caring manner, working in partnership with our clients to set benchmark standards in their area of industry.
Ark Occupational Health operates from two locations in Aberdeen – at 213 George Street in the City Centre and Blackness Avenue, Altens Industrial Estate. Some of our services can be delivered onsite at your business location – please ask us for more information.
